How we investigate
A paranormal claim is only interesting once you have honestly tried to kill it. Every dossier in this archive is built to be falsifiable and to show its work.
The dossier structure
- Introduction — what is alleged, and by whom.
- Deep dive — the full written investigation with footnotes and citations.
- Unexplained core — the residue that survives every prosaic test we could apply.
- Conclusion — our position, stated plainly and open to revision.
- Case records — granular incidents with witnesses, evidence types and disputed elements.
- Sources — every reference, labelled by credibility tier.
Source credibility tiers
- Primary
- Contemporaneous records made by people present: transcripts, logs, session notes.
- Archival
- Institutional holdings, press archives and library collections.
- Secondary
- Later analysis, books and journalism that interpret primary material.
- Testimony
- First-hand accounts recorded after the fact, treated as claims, not proof.
- Debunked
- Material shown to be mistaken or fabricated — kept on the record, labelled.
Editorial locks
Once an investigation's written deep dive or documentary script is approved, it is locked. Locked text cannot be overwritten by an automated publishing import — a researcher must deliberately unlock it, and the change is written to an immutable audit log.
Community submissions
Experiences, case leads, evidence, source references and corrections all enter the same review queue as pending. Nothing is published automatically.
